If the water is dripping between the fascia and the soffit or only from the soffit this is a good indicator that the leak is coming from your roof. It goes without saying but it s integral that you check your gutters for leaks regularly or at least after a storm. The water travels to places where it shouldn t be going most probably between the gutter and the fascia all the way down to the side of the house or straight into the ground. Water should run out the downspout and away from the house without filling the gutter.

If the gutters are clogged it s possible that the water is overflowing the gutters and this is contributing to the leak. Lately whenever it rains water drips out of my house s gutters and onto the patio instead of out the downspout. When water drips between the fascia and the gutters the problem could be a compromised drip edge but it s also possible the gutters are overflowing.
